Quarantine Activities: Fun & Productive Things To Do During Lockdown

Activities that are fun, productive, and keep you moving forward are essential during the Coronavirus pandemic lockdown. As hard as it is to stay home, it is the duty of everyone who is able to, to contribute to defeating the deadly virus, is to self-isolate. Here are some ideas to pass the time enjoyable and productively, not to mention having fun.

Right now, it’s critical to have some things to keep yourself occupied and distract yourself from the terrifying news reports. Most of us are climbing the walls already and it’s only the first week. The massive disruption to our normal schedules and routines is truly surreal.

People in small spaces are probably bearing the brunt of this quarantine. For them, keeping a routine, and staying occupied during their waking hours is key to beating back the feeling of cabin fever. If you are alone, it is even more important to have things to do and maintain a feeling of connection, because isolation and social deprivation have an immensely negative effect on our psychological and emotional states.

When this is all over, you don’t want to look back with regrets about all of those long-put-off projects that never got done. You don’t want to look back on days that turned into weeks spent on the sofa in dirty sweatpants glued to the cable news while scrolling the social media feeds and having panic attacks. Remember, some people will have completed their masterpieces, and others will have frittered away the time fixating on impending doom and global misery.

It does not diminish the true suffering and crisis that the Coronavirus has wrought across the globe, to appreciate and feel grateful for the blessings you still do have.

If you have a comfortable home or apartment to be quarantined in, please not only feel grateful for it, but also make it the best and most nurturing space it can possibly be.

If your fridge, freezer, and pantry are so filled with the brim with stockpiled food, please feel grateful for the resources you have, and stop going to the stores. Do your part to end this crisis by staying home.

If you are getting frustrated and annoyed at your family members, please be grateful that you don’t have to endure this extended isolation at home, and separating from them within your home as best you can will make you miss them and appreciate them once again.

And if you are alone, please don’t feel lonely, just feel grateful for being able to nurture the longest and most important relationship of your life; the one with yourself. Being alone doesn’t have to be lonely, and think about others who are on their own and reach out to them and be the person that is breaking through the isolation rather than suffering from it.

Although we remain separated in the physical world, our spirits are more united than ever.  Wishing you healing, peace, and comfort during this truly terrifying crisis.
