The marsh, coves, and tidepools are rich in sea life: limpets, shore crabs and hermit crabs, mussels, barnacles, sea anemones, and many species of snails and cast-off shells. The Torrey Pines 2,000-acre reserve contains about 300 endangered and protected species of native plants. This is the perfect place to watch the annual gray whale migration. All year round, you can see Seals, dolphins, porpoises, and sea lions in the ocean. About two hundred species of birds are protected at the reserve, including migratory ones.

Torrey Pines Golf & Reserve – La Jolla, California

Torrey Pines Golf Course, high above the Pacific Ocean on the towering cliffs of Torrey Pines, is a must visit for golf lovers coming to San Diego, and renowned as one of the top golf courses in California. The views across the ocean and the coastline are just incredible, so even if you aren’t a golf lover, this is just such a beautiful place to come and visit. Opened in 1957, it was built on the site of Camp Callan, a U.S. Army installation during World War II. Torrey Pines has two 18-hole courses, North and South, designed by William Francis Bell. This is a municipal golf course, owned by the city of San Diego and it is open to the public.
