For some reason, maybe the beautiful warm, sunny day; I decided to be easy breezy and wear my natural hair texture to one of the Modernism Week lectures at the Palm Springs Art Museum. Afterwards when I looked at this photo, I remembered why I never do that. You might have noticed that I grew my hair out from a very short buzz cut in the last year. I miss the convenience of the clipper cut so much, but it’s very harsh on the face when you are appearing on camera.
Over the last decade I have perfected attaining a gleaming, smooth, wavy hair texture with only natural cold-pressed plant oils and without any direct heat. How do I do this?
Everyone who regularly straightens or otherwise changes the texture of their hair needs to know how natural hairstyling works, and stop the cycle of damage and styling that heat styling and harsh conventional products wreak on your hair.
The end result of this 1920s-30s era wet-set styling is better than natural, it is supernatural, because it’s actually strengthening my hair. So rather than the typical blowout and iron that most people subject themselves to every time they wash their hair, you could actually be wet-setting your hair and have the most luscious, glossy, healthy hair of your life! Stop denying yourself just because your damaging, expensive, haircare regimen, which is making you bald via traction alopecia, is familiar. Familiarity isn’t a reason to do anything, so start questioning your beauty routines, and ask yourself, is this really healthy for me, and are there other, better ways to get to the end result that makes me feel presentable to the world.
