Embracing The Power Of Storytelling Through Video Content – Torrey Pines – La Jolla, California – San Diego Pacific Beach Adventure Is Premiering Today On YouTube!
A picture speaks a thousand words, but a video speaks a million. Today more than ever we need to break through the white noise of social media and the internet, but I find that we always come back to one of the oldest and elemental characteristics of ourselves as human beings. Whether nose-deep into a phone screen or around a primitive campfire people have always delighted in passing the time with narrative driven stories.
We live in an age of addiction to distraction, and our attention spans have borne the brunt of the onslaught, so they may be short, vertically presented on a small screen, but we still delight just as much in ever in being presented with a narrative story. I think most of all, that’s what makes us satisfied with, and releases that dopamine rush that people are subconsciously looking for when they’re scrolling through a truly endless amount of content to enjoy deciding what to choose.
So I’ve been hard at work honing my skills creating video content, and living in San Diego county, California it’s wonderful having so many beautiful places to film and present. Between the coast, the backcountry desert and mountains, and the ranches and vineyards of inland North County, on any given day there’s almost always a beautiful place with beautiful weather to visit. Although I certainly didn’t intend to make travel video content, I’m so grateful that I have such awe-inspiringly beautiful surroundings to film as a subject. That’s why I work so hard to present my videos to the very best of my ability so that it’s worth the time you take as a viewer to be engaged and excited by the content you choose to consume.
I’ve been working for 5 continuous months now on my new video: Torrey Pines - La Jolla, California: San Diego Pacific Ocean Beach Adventure, and I’m so excited to share it with you. The premise of my video is 3 days in La Jolla, California, the gem of the San Diego coastline, on and below the towering cliffs of Torrey Pines. This stretch of coast is home to the Torrey Pines Natural Marine Reserve, and from La Jolla Shores, all the way to Del Mar, there is no development along the coast, and thousands of acres of cliffs and mesas above have been preserved for hundreds of endangered species of plants and wildlife.
The Pacific Ocean is the most beautiful turquoise and teal blue color here, and artists have been drawn to La Jolla throughout it’s history. Videographers, painters, and photographers love the challenge of capturing the image of this ever-changing landscape. I’m reminded this often because some days the water, sky, and golden cliffs are so vivid and perfect for photography and videos, and other days the ocean is stirred up and the air is filled with wildfire smoke, both of which dull the spectacular colors that La Jolla is known for. Luckily I’ve been filming at the beach dozens of times this summer, and my footage is a highlight reel of the most beautiful days this year.
It’s taken quite a bit longer than I was hoping, but it’s going to be well worth it because I’m creating an entirely new format to film, edit, and produce my videos. This new format is going to be more engaging and exciting, and most importantly with a greater sense of adventure and fun! Like most exciting changes, this one hasn’t come easy, and this new format has been fighting me every step of the way. Between a new method of filming, new equipment, and day and days of processing time, I’m so happy that I’ve made this change because going forward, I really think that you’re going to be able to feel the experience of joining me on my adventures more than ever.
After 5 months of trial and much error, I’ve finally finished filming my new video and much to the chagrin of my workout schedule and many other tasks, I’ve been spending each and every day hunched over my computer editing the final product. Hopefully soon I’ll be releasing Torrey Pines - La Jolla, California: San Diego Pacific Ocean Beach Adventure Tour on YouTube, and we’ll both be able to enjoy the fruits of this summer’s hard work. At the very least, spending all that time on the beach in La Jolla this summer filming was quite a treat.
To say I’m grateful to live and love in the San Diego Backcountry is a gross understatement, and being able to share it with you brings me the most profound sense of joy. A photograph is worth a thousand words but the descriptive power of video is immeasurable. It’s a privilege of the highest order to live in one of the most beautiful and desirable areas of the United States, and when I share the sights and sounds of my home it just compounds my love for this incredible place.
As our beautiful beach summer turns to a hot and smoky autumn, I have so many new videos planned in both my favorite and brand new places. Now that beach season is winding down the dirt roads of the mountains and deserts are calling our names! I have some seriously exciting off-road adventures planned for when the heat breaks. Except for swimming in the glittering teal blue Pacific Ocean in La Jolla on a beautiful day, hearing the crunch of the sand and gravel as I rattle down a dirt road is one of my favorite experiences in the world.
So please enjoy Torrey Pines – La Jolla, CA – San Diego Pacific Ocean Beach Adventure, every minute of view time, new subscriber, upvote, and comment pushes my videos out to other people who might be interested in them. Thank you so much for engaging with my content, and taking the time to read my writing, look at my photographs, and watch my videos, it really means the world to me.
