Torrey Pines – La Jolla, California – San Diego Pacific Ocean Beach Adventure
Experience the breathtaking colorful sunset on the Pacific Ocean at Torrey Pines City Beach, at the southern most boundary of Black’s Beach. This gorgeous stretch of beach is just below La Jolla Farms, one of the most exclusive areas of massive estates with the best views of the San Diego coastline.
Today’s golden hour is an especially peaceful end to a tranquil day here on the Pacific Ocean. As usual I hate to leave the beach, and I love taking in the sunset, I cherish every one. This is certainly a place to reflect on the transient nature of life, truly savoring this one day, and this one sunset. Tomorrow, we could have another cliff collapse and the beach could be different. (Spoiler Alert: There was another cliff collapse)
It’s incredible how much the coast changes here in a day, from this morning’s coastal inversion, to the warm, sunny blue sky afternoon, to this incredible golden-red sunset. I always feel at peace here, and feel inspired by the beauty of this place. I’m so tempted to stay here for the entire sunset, and watch the sky until the stars come out, but I don’t feel like walking up the cliff with a head lamp, so let’s start to make our way back up.
It’s just as well because once we start climbing, the sunset and the coastal inversion interplay and create a dazzling panorama. Here on this high perch, we have a beautiful view of the Pacific Ocean as a canvas that the light is painting with the most incredible composition of light, fire, water, and shadow.
Most of us stop as we ascend and take in this awe-inspiring sunset. It’s amazing as a group experience, that we all instinctively, silently appreciate the sunset, almost as a communal appreciation and reverence for nature’s beauty. For so many of us, we have the shared appreciation for those special moments in beautiful places, that make up for all the hardships and sacrifices that living in such an expensive and crowded place requires.
Now, all of those worries and challenges seem a world away, and we’re immersed in the shimmering, fiery beauty that the earth has bestowed on us today. Another perfect ending to another perfect day at the beach, under the towering cliffs of Torrey Pines, where else but in La Jolla, California.
It’s been an incredible day on the coast here in Torrey Pines and La Jolla, and I’m so glad that we were able to explore my favorite beach together.
